Dryvit's Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) system provided a practical solution to a difficult design problem for the Overgate shopping centre in Dundee. Fresh from the success of the Outsulation system installation at the Bluewater shopping complex in Kent, it was suggested by Lend Lease that Keppie Architects should consider the Dryvit insulated render system by taking advantage of the innovative “Custom Stone” finish as an over-cladding for the existing building’s second storey facade. Area: 600m2. Completed: March 2000.

Dryvit Outsulation and Outsulation Rail external wall insulation (EWI) was specified on the Life Buildings in Hulme Manchester. Architect MBLA wanted the Life Buildings to breathe new life into the urban renaissance and herald a fresh and innovative approach to the way we live and work. The Outsulation system was installed over a lighweight steel frame substrate and the Outsulation Rail system was installed over timber frame to satify Premier Insurance requirements. The insulated render systems satisfied building regulation requirements in terms of energy performance but also allowed a splash of colour to be used on the facade utilising PMRB Sandpebble Fine in a bright orange finish, incoprorating high performance pigments.  Area: 3,500m2. Developer City South.  Completed 2009

33,000m2 of Dryvit Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) was installed on 11 new community campus sites incorporating 14 secondary and primary schools across Edinburgh and Perthshire in Scotland. The works formed part of two Public Private Partnership (PPP) schemes worth £269m between Axiom Education and both Edinburgh City and Perth and Kinross Councils. Craigroyston High School in Edinburgh has approximately 3,500m2 of the Outsulation insulated render system installed. Dryvit's comprehensive Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) fire approvals were instrumental in satisfying insurer requirements for the project, which allowed the cost effective expanded polystyrene (EPS) based Outsulation EWI system to be specified for use on the scheme. Completed in 2009.

Once a place of residence for Benedictine monks, Fort Augustus Abbey recently redeveloped, and renamed The Highland Club, now provides some of the best luxury self catering holiday rental apartments in Scotland with one, two and three bedroom units. The Brothers Wing development was built within the original fort walls, and so within one of the most historically important sections of the development. The Dryvit Roxsulation Rail external wall insulation (EWI) system was specified to allow the developer to mix the historical importance of the building with a contempary feel. The use of the Roxsulation insulated render system allowed the developer to easily meet local building control requirements, whilst its high thermal performance allowed u-value targets set out in Section 6 of the Scottish Building Regulations to be satisfied. 900 m2, completed: 2009.

First Choice Homes Oldham specified Dryvit's Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) system to refurbish this 11 storey high rise block. The existing exposed-aggregate cladding panels were repaired and stabilised, then the Dryvit insulated render system was installed with a 90mm layer of EPS insulation to give an impressive 0.28 W/m2K u-value bringing it into line with the latest building regulations. The EWI system was finished with PMRB Quarzputz overcoated with our high performance Demadit acrylic finish to provide additional anti-carbonation protection to the existing substrate. The finishes were applied in two contrasting colours to give the exterior a well deserved facelift. Area 3,000m2. Completed 2003.
