Dock 9 - Manchester

Dryvit's pre-fabricated Fedderlite and Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) systems were used to clad this purpose built multi-storey apartment building at Dock 9, Salford Quays in Manchester. The 19 storey building at the city’s Dock 9 development has one and two bedroom apartments designed by Conran as part of the Landmark Development. Architects Conran and Partners had strict requirements for energy efficiency throughout the high specification development, and so specified an aesthetically contrasting wall system and a panelised façade solution that aligned with these requirements and the overall design scheme. David McLean (the principal contractor on site) was attracted to Dryvit’s Fedderlite insulated render system to clad the property due to the fast track installation of the panels – which could be installed off mast climbers therefore reducing access time and costs. The Fedderlite insulated render panels were manufactured off site in a controlled environment enabling the installation to meet tight programme requirements regardless of the weather.  Area: 3,000m2.

Dryvit’s Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) and Dryvit ACR 200 anti-crack render systems were specified on this Southern Housing Group project by DRP Architects. Up to 150mm of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation was incorporated in the Outsulation insulated render system to create a layered effect and to articulate the façade between render and cedar cladding areas. The insulation installed also exceeded u-values requirements to satisfy Part L Building Regulations. Dryvit ACR 200 was installed direct to blockwork on the ground floor levels. The main contractor on the scheme was Denne Construction. Sandpebble Fine Colours - China White & Sundance Yellow. 1200m2, Outsulation and 600m2 Dryvit ACR 200.

Carpeaux Close - Chatham

Refurbishment of this housing association block left a post-tensioned concrete frame structure. Due to the limited load capabilities of the structure a lightweight cladding solution was required. Dryvit's Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) system was specified over a lightweight blockwork infill. The PMRB Sandpebble Fine and Custom Brick finishes in conjunction with ashlar grooving in the system and a new roof structure gave the building a well deserved face lift. Area: 1200m2.

Advent - Ancoats, Manchester

Over 14,000m2 of Dryvit's Outsulation Rail external wall insulation (EWI) system was installed at the Advent site in Ancoats Manchester. This joint venture between Peel Holdings Ltd, Artisan Holdings Ltd. and New East Manchester Regeneration consisted of 400 apartments and 5,574 sq m of commercial space. The project reaffirmed commitment to rejuvenate the eastern area of the city. Outsualtion Rail insulated render was specified by the project architect Arconia to meet NHBC's requirements for new build apartments over a a lightweight steel frame (SFS) wall system. The EWI system, complete with a moisture drainage plane, was installed over the sheathed SFS to deal with any incidental moisture that may find its way to the rear of the cladding. 60mm Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) was specified in conjunction with insulation within the SFS to achieve a 0.20 W/m2K u-value. China White and Terracotta colours in PMRB Sandpebble were used to compliment adjacent cladding and landscaping on the project.

UWS Student Accommodation - Paisley

Built by Graham Construction the University of the West of Scotland's £13.2 million Paisley Campus student residence offers 336 en-suite rooms. This stunning new accommodation is convienently sited directly beside the main university buildings in Paisley. 3,500 m2 of Dryvit's Outsulation external wall insulation (EWI) system was installed directly onto a lightweight steel frame and sheathing board substrate. As the building was in excess of 18 metres in height Dryvit's comprehensive Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) fire approvals were instrumental in satisfying insurer requirements for the project, which allowed the cost effective expanded polystyrene (EPS) based Outsulation insulated render system to be specified for use on the scheme.
